#6 - Critterland at Copper Mountain
The littlest ones in your family get to take advantage of one of Copper Mountain’s newest attractions, Critterland. Only kiddos under the age of six are permitted to play at Critterland, an interactive snowy playground. The playground features a mini tubing hill, tunnels to crawl through, a pint-sized tubing carousel, slides, and more. The cost of entry is $10 per ticket, and parents get free entry for the entire day. Critterland is open 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily.
#5 - Snowshoeing at Copper Mountain
Bundle up and take the whole family snowshoeing to explore the White River National Forest that surrounds Copper Mountain. Copper Mountain offers free snowshoe tours Friday through Sunday twice a day. Meet at West Village for the beginner-friendly tour that runs from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m and is weather permitting. Kids must be at least eight years old to participate.
#4 - Ice Skating at West Lake in Copper Mountain
West Lake is located right in Center Village and opens up as an ice skating rink every winter. The rink opens as soon as the natural lake freezes over, which is typically around December 24. Families can skate for free from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. and rent skates at the City Pop for $10. Pick up a game of hockey with the free equipment available on-site, and stay to roast marshmallows at the firepit afterward. In the summer, West Lake is open for bumper boats and a zip line.
#3 - Snowtubing at Copper Mountain
Snowtubing is the new sledding, and it’s clear why. Copper Mountain’s snowtubing hill features curved banks, twists, and turns offering an exhilarating ride from start to finish. Tubing sessions last an hour, and you can save a few dollars by pre-booking at least five days in advance. There are no age restrictions, but kids must be at least 36 inches tall and be able to ride in their own tube.
#2 - Woodward Copper
Woodward Copper is a massive training facility for action sports with both indoor and outdoor terrain parks. There’s plenty to do at Woodward Copper for kids of all ages and experience levels. The nearly 20,000-square-foot indoor facility features jump spots and foam pits, trampolines, and skateparks. There are many different options for camps, programs, and sessions, and time frames range widely.
#1 - Sugar Lips Mini Donuts
There’s something quintessential about munching on donuts after a day on the mountain. Sugar Lips Mini Donuts is a cute locally-owned donut shop that serves hot, freshly made donuts with a slew of “fancy schmancy” toppings like Oreo crumbs, sprinkles, and a variety of syrups.
